Why this recording matters

Most of what survives from the Immune26 marketing campaign comes from distributor web pages, testimonials, and company advertising copy — material that is one or more steps removed from Mark Yarnell himself. This December 6, 2001 conference call is different: it is Yarnell speaking live, unscripted, in his own voice, to an audience he was told numbered "over a thousand people." That makes it one of the strongest primary-source records of what Yarnell personally told prospective distributors about the product and the opportunity.

Note on the recording's origin: Terry Polevoy joined this call after being invited by a distributor identified on the recording only as "Chad." The opening seconds, heard below, are Polevoy's own contemporaneous narration identifying the date, the dial-in number, and his understanding of who was hosting the call.

What Yarnell says, in his own words

Two things stand out when Yarnell speaks for himself rather than through distributor copy.

He explicitly disclaims specific disease cures...

"Immune26 will not block anthrax."
"Immune 26 does not cure cancer."
"Immune 26 does not cure fibromyalgia or lupus or chronic fatigue syndrome or diabetes or attention deficit disorder."

...while making a broader, vaguer claim in the same breath

"What immune 26 does is it balances the immune system and then the immune system does what God intended it to do."
"Immune26 is a patented biotechnology that balances the immune system. There has never been a product like it."
"It's not a medical claim product because it doesn't target disease or infection."

Other checkable claims made on the call

"Our product is in the physician's desk reference."
"So we've got the product, 112 patents. That's 112 specific applications."
Attributes to "the ABC investigative journalist who did a report on our product" the quote: "It's a miracle powder." (Program and reporter not named on the call.)
References Dr. Paul Ewald's book Plague Time as supporting evidence for the importance of the immune system generally — while explicitly noting Ewald "has never been paid a penny by our company... nor does he even know the product exists."
References having made "$18 million" in his prior MLM venture (unnamed on the call, consistent with the Nu Skin chronology documented separately).
Editorial caution: The claims above are reproduced from the call as transcribed and should be read as documentation of what was said, not as verified facts. The 112-patents figure, the Physician's Desk Reference claim, and the unnamed ABC segment all warrant independent verification before being cited as established.

The transcript below was produced from an audio recording via automated speech recognition, then cleaned and consolidated by speaker turn. Timestamps are preserved at intervals throughout for citation purposes. Two transcription issues are flagged where they occur:

1. Inconsistent surname: The guest speaker's surname appears as both "Brabel" and "Vrabel" in the source ASR output. This has not been independently confirmed.

2. Speaker-boundary error near 00:10:32: The source transcript attributes "Hey Mark, how are you?" to Yarnell. Context makes clear this line is actually the guest's reply to Yarnell's preceding "Chuck, are you there?" — left as transcribed rather than silently corrected, and flagged here for the record.

[00:00:03]Terry Polevoy (narration, opening)

This is December 6, 2001. It's the conference call for the Legacy via the exponentialwealth.com. A fellow by the name of Chad invited me to partake. I think it's Mark Yarnell. He used to be with Nu Skin. Phone number is 212-461-5860, code number 2237.

[00:00:27]Terry Polevoy (narration, opening)

Pound.

[00:00:28]Mark Yarnell

Goofy. Immune26 balances the immune system, and then the immune system does all the rest. We are safe. Our founders and leaders are brilliant, and if you don't believe me, get on the web and read their resumes. No other company posts the resumes of their leaders. Our product is in the physician's desk reference.

[00:00:49]Mark Yarnell

You heard that right. There are MDs and medical practitioners all over the world that are recommending our product. It's not a little packet of menthol or dried herbs that does nothing. This is a powerful new biotechnology. You've got to learn about it. You won't believe it.

[00:01:07]Mark Yarnell

We don't care as distributors and as a company how many MLM deals you do. We're not going to make you sign some fear-based non-compete clause. As a matter of fact, we don't really care if you quit. Once you start, if you're not happy, we're all adults, we just want you happy. Our goal is a little bit different. We want to make the company so great and the comp plan so lucrative and the product so efficacious that you don't want to switch companies.

[00:01:34]Mark Yarnell

How's that for a change? We are going to merge with three other companies. We're not going to sell out to some big corporation, we're not going public, we're not going to please stockholders, we're going to please our distributors. That's the motto of our corporate team. Now, we aren't perfect, and I, you know, if I were to join a company, it wouldn't be perfect within a week, because I'm far. But our people are basic, decent, honest, competent, sharp people, and I'm going to tell you something.

[00:02:02]Mark Yarnell

If you've been looking for a final home, a place where you can hang your hat and be proud of the product and the company and the whole team, this is it. You will not have to look at any more opportunities. Tonight I'm just going to share with you, and this is scripted. I've been doing this for over a year, so I'm pretty comfortable with this information. I'm going to share with you some information that I've been fortunate to teach for the last few years at the University of Illinois. Some of you who know me realize that a few years back I was honored by Dr.

[00:02:32]Mark Yarnell

Charles King, who's a Harvard Ph.D. He decided we needed a college certification course for people who really wanted to take network marketing to the professional level. And he had read a few of my articles and books, and he called me and asked me if I would help him design the curriculum, and I did, and we've been teaching it now since '91. And we've taught thousands of people how to become professional networkers, and one of my jobs has been to teach people how to pick the right company, you know, due diligence, what to look for. A lot of people ask me all the time, why, you know, you were comfortable, you made $18 million in your last MLM venture, set up a few charities, moved to Switzerland, had homes in three places, had an airplane, had a boat, had all the stuff. What are you doing?

[00:03:14]Mark Yarnell

How come you're back to work? And the answer is real simple. I couldn't resist it. In all my years of analyzing this industry I can tell you uncategorically and without equivocation this is the greatest opportunity I've ever seen. Now a year ago I was making two thousand dollars a month and now I'm making two thousand dollars a day. In fact, more than that.

[00:03:36]Mark Yarnell

Because they said I would if I'd work hard and I did. So let me just tell you a year is going to go by in a hurry. You're gonna meet a gentleman tonight who has distinguished himself not by only becoming presidential but by developing three other presidentials. This is Christmas month and this Christmas month I'm gonna introduce you to presidential standouts who've not only made it to the top of our pay plan but have taken a lot of people with them and I'll introduce our guest in a minute. But let me just give you the four criteria tonight. One at a time and you judge any opportunity out there by these four.

[00:04:07]Mark Yarnell

I'm biased toward legacy because it's the best one I've seen but you be the judge. The first thing that we teach people when they're trying to decide from among the thousands of opportunities out there is that they need to look at the product. Immune26, which is our Cadillac product, Immune26 is a patented biotechnology that balances the immune system. There has never been a product like it. It's not just another herbal supplement and it's not a medical claim product because it doesn't target disease or infection. So let me just start right now by illuminating

[00:04:42]Mark Yarnell

by sharing the facts with you because a lot of you have heard a lot of rumors that aren't true. So now tonight, and I know a lot of people are taping this, we've probably got over a thousand people on this line, so let's just get the facts out there about our product. You have heard the rumors and they aren't true. Immune26 will not block anthrax. Immune 26 does not cure cancer. Immune 26 does not cure fibromyalgia or lupus or chronic fatigue syndrome or diabetes or attention deficit disorder.

[00:05:17]Mark Yarnell

What immune 26 does is it balances the immune system and then the immune system does what God intended it to do. And in case you don't know how powerful the immune system is, let me make it real simple for you. If your immune system went away tonight, you'd be dead in a week. Why? Because it's your immune system that blocks the problems. Now, you don't have to believe me about this technology.

[00:05:41]Mark Yarnell

All you got to do is go buy a bestseller. Dr. Paul Ewald is a molecular biologist at Amherst. He has never been paid a penny by our company to endorse the product, nor does he even know the product exists, but he's written a bestseller. And his bestseller will tell you how important the immune system is. Get Plague Time by Dr.

[00:05:59]Mark Yarnell

Paul Ewald. But let me make it real simple. During the bubonic plague in Europe, and people are scared of smallpox and anthrax and all cancer. I mean, people ought to be afraid of cancer. In 1910, one out of 80 Americans could be expected to get cancer in his or her lifetime. Today, it's one out of two.

[00:06:17]Mark Yarnell

And the Center for Disease Control says, holy cow, it may be one out of one by 2025. One out of two people get cancer, folks. It's not anthrax that scares me. It's not smallpox that scares me. What scares me is the fact that after all these medical breakthroughs, it's gone from one out of 80 to one out of two people who get cancer in their lifetime. Now, listen to me closely.

[00:06:39]Mark Yarnell

When the bubonic plague hit Europe, six out of 10 people in London died. Got a family of 10 people. All of them get bit by the fleas. All of them are exposed to the bubonic plague, which is 10 times more viral than any anthrax, but four lived. And the great question of medical science all these years has been, why did four people survive the bubonic plague? And there's only one answer.

[00:07:03]Mark Yarnell

We didn't have antibiotics back then. It's because their immune systems were at peak performance. Let me make it real simple for you. Immune26 is the most important all-natural product to ever hit free enterprise. And I don't know about you, but I don't do MLM just for the money. I had a PhD in clinical psychology call me today and she said I'm looking at five different companies what makes yours best I said well first of all you can't even compare us to anything out there unless they have a product with over a hundred patents and a pay plan that pays down seven levels on the very first person you sponsor without any hoops she said well I've never seen one like that said ma'am you called the right person just listen to me closely don't do MLM just for the money when you can do it

[00:07:46]Mark Yarnell

for the prosperity and purpose. Legacy for life is prosperity with purpose because the product is changing lives. Or in the words of the ABC investigative journalist who did a report on our product, It's a miracle powder. End quote. So we've got the product, 112 patents. That's 112 specific applications and the proof that it's unique, 112 patents.

[00:08:09]Mark Yarnell

The second criteria that we teach at the college level is leadership. Do you have corporate people who know what they're doing or do you have corporate people who've nosedived 10 deals? I don't know. A lot of guys start 10, 15 companies. They go offshore with the money. They don't care who loses money.

[00:08:24]Mark Yarnell

That's the nature of free enterprise. It's the wild, wild west of capitalism. Folks not in our company, get on the web, look up legacyusa.com and read the resumes of our founders. They are geniuses. 30 of the best minds, formerly of DuPont and Conagra, some of the best business people on this planet in everything from law to international finance and multi-level marketing, and every time it... Every week at this time, I introduce somebody who has just made presidential, because that's the peak of the field position.

[00:08:56]Mark Yarnell

But tonight, and for the rest of this month, since it's Christmas month, I want to bring back some people who have not only made it to the presidential level, but they're the kind of leaders you'll be working with if you join us. They've got distinguished backgrounds, but I think the thing that I most admire about each of these people is they've not only become presidential and started making a lot of money, But they've also created at least three presidentials in their organization, which is really the mark of a leader. A leader helps other people rise to their full potential. Tonight, I got a guy that most of you know. He started, really started working full-time last February.

[00:09:32]Mark Yarnell

He's been with us from the beginning, though. Guy's been a professional golfer, might as well be a professional golfer, nobody can keep pace with him on the course. He's owned five-star restaurants, have been maitre d', he's owned all kinds of businesses, has played tennis with the best tennis players and golf with the best golfers, has hobnobbed with all. The guy is an unbelievable social animal and everybody who knows him loves him because he could do anything he wanted and yet he chose to do, but here's what's exciting, not only did he choose to do legacy for life. The man right now is making 10 times more money than he was just a year ago and could retire. He's making more than the average surgeon makes.

[00:10:13]Mark Yarnell

In fact, three times, according to the median income schedule in Worth magazine of medical surgeons, he makes three times that amount. And now he's more excited than he's ever been. I introduce you to presidential director tonight, Chuck Brabel. a man who has developed three other presidentials in his organization. He's got about six others ready to break within the next year. Chuck, are you there?

[00:10:32]Mark Yarnell (as transcribed — see editorial note above; likely Chuck's reply, not Yarnell's)

Hey Mark, how are you? I gotta, I gotta ask you the $64,000 question. You've got to, your income's up tenfold over a year ago at this time. How many vacations have you taken during that year? Talk a little bit about what you've done as you've created that income.

[00:10:51]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

Well Mark, pleasure to have me on the call everyone. And thanks for asking me, Mark. As far as vacations, it's been so wonderful that I've traveled places I've never been before in my whole life. Mark, I've been to St. Lucia, St. Kitt, St.

[00:11:06]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

Thomas, I've been to Bonaire. I've been to Salt Lake City, I've been to California. I've been all over the country, and the only reason I was able to do this is because I got involved in legacy. I'm so glad you let me talk, Mark, because I've been waiting 10 minutes to say something, and it's hard to keep me from They want to hear you. Because I'm so excited.

[00:11:30]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

I had to take a step back here tonight and really reflect on what life was like just a little bit ago when I worked in the restaurant. We came up with a quarter million dollars to open up our first restaurant. And I always wanted to have my business for myself. And it was a quarter million dollars both times. And that's a lot of money for someone to invest in a business. It's sad to say that due to circumstances beyond our control, construction that went from a two-lane highway to a floor on an island literally closed down our business, here I was able to get involved in our company for $325 to have a business that has made me more money than I ever dreamed of in any restaurant.

[00:12:11]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

That's the first thing. I'm my own boss. I don't have to live. listen to anybody. I don't have to even listen to you or corporate or anybody, Mark. I'm my own boss.

[00:12:19]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

I can come and go as I please. I can golf when I want. I can work when I want. And that's what I love about this opportunity that we have. I don't have to commute to work. You know, when I live in Cleveland, you can't imagine how many times my car did a 360 just driving home with all the snow on the ice.

[00:12:36]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

And now today, I'm in my shorts. I'm working on the balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. That's my work. That's my commute. Right from the kitchen to the balcony.

[00:12:47]Mark Yarnell

Now, I could ask you something. We were talking this morning about that. By the way, folks, check it. I mean, he's kind enough to come on the call. I called him this morning and asked him if he if he joined me because I decided I wanted to have the top leaders this month. Chuck, you said you worked until when last night recruiting people?

[00:13:04]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

Well, very fortunate. We had a good situation where we had a lot of phone calls coming in. I worked 20 straight hours from 7:30 to 3:26 in the morning. And I could have stayed on the phone till today.

[00:13:17]Mark Yarnell

You know, one of the things you were sharing with me that I'd like to share with the people, because everybody runs into this question at some time or another, you were talking to some quite... highly educated person, I think a PhD, who said she had never done marketing and asked you, How can I do this? I'm not a salesperson. And I thought your response was something everybody on this line should hear, 'cause you bump into these educated people who think they can't sell. What was it you said to her?

[00:13:41]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

It was absolutely bizarre. The lady, she had called in one of my contact lists that I had, and in talking to her, I told her about our great technology. It's the first biotech product. for your immune system, and some people are making $300,000 a month doing this business. She said, I've got to have the information. And simply, I just clicked around one of the calls that we have, a four-minute overview. And after that, I said, what did you think? She said, I'm so excited. This is tremendous. I said, well, check my website out. I directed to my website. She called me back about an hour later and says, Chuck, this is absolutely outstanding. She said, But I can't market. I've never marketed anything. I'm not a good marketer. I'm not a good salesperson. And I said, Do you have any children? She said, Yes, I have an eight-year-old son. And I said, Do you think I could take your eight-year-old son that you say is pretty bright and get him to call a number? Three-way someone on a phone call. She said, Yes. And I said, Do you think you can take your eight-year-old son and try him to tell a person to go to your website? and she says yeah and I says well there you go if your son can do the business you can do the business it was the most the light bulb went on big time she's coming into business and I couldn't be any more excited because this lady's gonna tear it up.

[00:15:01]Mark Yarnell

What is it about it I guess the final thing I would ask you You're making right now more money than than really most people ever hope to make in their lifetime. How come you're so excited now? I mean, you've most people would say, well, you know, you can go play golf every day. How come you're working harder now than you ever have?

[00:15:18]Chuck [Brabel/Vrabel — spelling unconfirmed]

Honestly, Marco, the numbers that you dream about, you know, that are presented even here tonight, you know, the 30 to 100 thousand dollars a month. I'll be honest with you, I had a little maybe disbelief Not that I couldn't do it, but I would say 51% of me said, well, maybe you won't do it. But after reaching my five digits here a month, my gosh, you know, with taking vacations, I went two weeks to Cleveland and two weeks to Bahamas in a three-week cruise. And I've been two weeks in Las Vegas and 10 days in California in a Seattle conference, which was eight days and a week in Atlanta. I mean, I'm doing business all over the country just by those contacts. And now I'm really excited because I felt that there was a lot of things that maybe I didn't know that I know now. And I know it's so much easier. All you have to do is be a messenger. That was a big problem. I was trying to reinvent the wheel. I am just a messenger now. I just tell people, here's the number to call, here's a website, and call them back with a person on the phone doing a three-way. That's all I do now, and it's working like a churn.

[00:16:31]Mark Yarnell

Well Chuck, I appreciate you joining me tonight, and I think Chuck's a good example of the real simple comment, A leader demonstrates what's possible. No talks cheap, but a leader demonstrates what's possible. They don't talk about it. They not only make it to the top, but they take a bunch of people with them, and Chuck Vrabel is the kind of guy who you can count on working with you and being a leader in the company. And Chuck, I want to thank you for coming on on such short notice, and congratulations on the three presidentials in your organization. I really appreciate it. So there you got it. I mean, we've got the first two criteria covered. We've got the product, we've got the leadership. I could go on and on and on about leadership, but boy, we've got a bunch of them. The third thing that we teach is to evaluate a compensation plan. Now, there's only one question that I ever have to ask if I'm in competition against any other network marketing company, and that's this, how much money are you going to earn if you sponsor one person who does a million dollars a month in volume and the answer is always well our company doesn't pay that way. The company I'm looking at you've got to have two legs and they've got to be balanced or you've got to have six legs or you've got to have 12 frontline that each do 3000 in open group volume and then they can break away and on and on and on. Folks, that's called smoke and mirrors and I'm not being critical. I mean you're better off in the worst network marketing company in America than you are in the best normal corporation. But the bottom line truth is once you isolate network marketing as your profession, you better look at the comp plans. Here's the bottom line on our comp plan. Forget about all the forecasts and the five by five illustrations and the boards on, you know, the circles on drawing boards. Don't get excited about hype. Get excited about this one fact. You bring in one person and as long as you're honestly moving a hundred and fifty dollars a month in product, you're going to get paid on all seven levels that that person generates if you never bring in another person. Folks, that has never happened before in network marketing. A person does a million dollars volume and you never bring anybody else, you're going to make fifty to seventy thousand dollars a month on your top seven levels. That's called a no-hoops comp plan and nobody can compete with that. And that's why three companies are in the process of changing their comp plans because they know they have to to compete with legacy for life. And I think imitation is the highest form of flattery and I hope every company out there changes their comp plan so there are no more hoops because that's the way to do this business. So we've got the product. We've got the ethical and competent leadership you need. We've got tracks for you to run on. By golly, the leaders have developed. When you get your kids, you'll get a 12-page training format that'll tell you exactly how to do the business. Then you can come on live training every Saturday morning on this same number and hear how to do it, not only from leaders, but from new people that have just hit the long ball. So we've got the products, the leadership, we've got the right pay plan, and then the fourth criteria that we teach is timing. And boy, timing is so critical. You don't want to get in in the first week, frankly, or the first month or two, because most companies have to make a lot of mistakes, and that's where most of them go out of business. A lot of companies are out of business in the first year or two. Ideally, the perfect timing is when a company's been around for a year or two, they've made all their mistakes, they've gotten their packaging right, they've got their data entry department set up properly, they've got the right management team, the comp plan's been altered to really provide the right kind of income. Probably ninety percent of success in our industry comes from the blind luck of blundering into a company that's a couple of years old but doesn't have leaders yet in half the states. Well when I got into my last company and by the way I was ground floor and I made eighteen million dollars. When I got into my last company I was one of the top thirty one thousand. In fact I was the thirty thousand one hundred and eighty-seventh distributor and I was considered ground floor. Folks last month We didn't have one leader in 37 of the 50 states and we still don't have one presidential director in the entire nation of Canada. So listen to me, this isn't ground floor. You are standing up to the mud of your knees in the basement. We haven't even gotten to the ground floor yet. you got to listen to me in five years the legacy ground floor will be over today you get to become a legend there are literally people who have failed at 10 deals in a row who are now making over $10,000 a month in legacy for life because the timing was so perfect now listen to me closely there's no mystery here Even if you don't know how to analyze a legitimate billion-dollar dynasty, if you ignore all four criteria you've heard tonight, it doesn't matter. You have blundered in to the mother lode. Don't miss it. You get to be a pioneer of a new global dynasty because some fortuitous intersection has resulted in your exposure to this company before the millions of other people who will ever even hear about it. the next four or five years you found out about it early now don't be deceived there are companies that are slapping up websites that are critical of this organization and that's understandable I'd be nervous too if you've got time to surf the web and read negative garbage you don't have time to build a legitimate international network you can't there's no such thing as virtual passion Either you're going to spend time on the internet, wading through the nonsense out there, or you're going to go to work and provide your family with the kind of revenue that they deserve. But I will tell you this, once you've heard about a company twice, it's too late. From Amway to Mary Kay and Shaklee to New Skin, those of us who got in early and didn't pay attention to all the naysayers made all the money. So you can wax your board and you can catch the ground floor legacy wave, or you can sit on your internet and drink coffee all day and type sideways smiles to pen pals. But I'm going to tell you something. I'm having more fun building an organization. There's no such thing as virtual passion, but I'm passionate about real life and building relationships over the phone and eyeball to eyeball with other human beings. I hope you will join us in Legacy because it's an unprecedented opportunity, but I want to be real honest in making one final point. We're going to do it whether you join us or not. Love to have you involved, but there are only two kinds of people in network marketing: people who think they can and people who think they can't and if they're both right. So if you think you can't, probably you don't want to join us. Hey, thanks a million for calling in. Love to have you join the team. Join us Saturday for training on this same line that you called tonight, and again next Thursday. Join Dr. Helen Greenblatt and all the many fun medical people and testimonials on Tuesday nights. We've got something for everybody, and I'll promise you this. If you do your due diligence and once you've sorted through the facts, you decide that you want to make Legacy your final home, we will do our best to be the best partners you've ever had. Hey, Legacy is prosperity with purpose, and if that's what you've been looking for, you just found it. God bless, have a great weekend, and I'll talk to you again Saturday. Goodnight.
