IMO I do not believe that it is possible for a 13 years old child coming from the background that he did is/was capable of making an informed decision, that is why we have laws specifically aimed at minors. Tyrell Dueck was (and I hate this word) "brainwashed", day in and day out he was inundated with his fathers myopic fundamentalist views, when it came time for him to make his own decision regarding his life, he just parroted those views.
